Skimmer Type

Skimmer weirs are water outflow points that are located intermittently In the pool wall. In skimmer types pools. It is recommended to have 70% Flow through the skimmers and the remaining 30% through the drains placed on the deepest point of the pool.

Advantages

• Skimmer weirs have several constructional advantages in free formed pools.
• The initial cost of installation is lower than overflow type pool.
• No separate balancing tank is required as they have inbuilt weir.

Limitations

• Skimmers should not be used for pools having high bathing loads.
• Since a free board of 150mm is maintained in these types of pools, the effective water depth = deck level minus 150 mm. Skimmers are limited to only smaller sized pools that would have a surface area less than 150 sq.mts.
